Bitcoin’s Summer Resurgence Unfolded in Just 3 Days

Bitcoin’s Surge: What Investors Need to Know This Friday

Bitcoin Soars Amid Treasury Moves: What Investors Need to Know

Happy Friday, investors! As we gear up for another trading day, all eyes are on the cryptocurrency market, particularly Bitcoin, which has surged nearly 30% in just a month. Join me on Fox Business at 7:20 AM ET for an in-depth discussion on stocks and this remarkable rally.

BTC on the Move

Bitcoin’s price has skyrocketed from approximately $63,000 to over $81,000 since the beginning of August, with a significant boost coming from the U.S. Treasury’s recent actions. The cryptocurrency experienced its most impressive gains on August 19, 20, and 21, following Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent’s announcement to double the government’s bond market buybacks to at least $4 billion per operation. During this period, Bitcoin gained over 5.4% daily, culminating in a staggering 21% increase within just 72 hours.

Interestingly, Bitcoin remained stagnant on August 18, even as the SEC proposed a pro-crypto framework—a move that typically would have excited traders. Instead, the market reacted positively to the Treasury’s bond buyback strategy, highlighting a shift in investor sentiment.

However, not all news has been favorable for Bitcoin. The cryptocurrency faced its worst day of the month on August 28, dropping 3% after Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh emphasized inflation concerns at the Jackson Hole symposium. This juxtaposition suggests that investors currently view fiscal policy as more influential than monetary policy.

Looking ahead, Bitcoin will have the opportunity to respond to both the Treasury and the Fed later this month. The expanded bond buybacks are set to commence on September 9, while the Fed will announce its interest rate decision on September 16. While predicting Bitcoin’s price on specific dates is a risky endeavor, recent trends indicate that the September 9 announcement may hold more weight for bullish investors than the Fed’s decision a week later.

Elsewhere in the Market

In other news, August jobs are projected to rise by 65,000, significantly above the trailing 12-month average of 26,300 nonfarm payrolls. Nvidia has confirmed a $13 billion acquisition of AI platform Hugging Face, marking its second-largest deal to date. Meanwhile, the U.S. trade deficit in July reached its highest level since before Liberation Day, reflecting a rebound in imports.

Broadcom reported a tripling of its AI chip revenue to $16.7 billion last quarter, although its quarterly revenue guidance fell short of Wall Street expectations.
