Uniswap Launches Wallet Browser Extension on Google Chrome, Enters Crypto Wallet Wars
Uniswap Labs has finally opened public access to its wallet browser extension on Google Chrome, after more than six months of anticipation. With over 793,000 users on the waitlist, the Ethereum-based decentralized exchange (DEX) now offers a storage solution similar to MetaMask for executing on-chain actions like token swaps on 11 supported networks.
The launch of Uniswap’s wallet browser extension comes at a time when wallet providers are rolling out new features and options to cater to the growing demand for blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies. Coinbase recently introduced a unified platform for managing wallets and on-chain portfolios, while Block partnered with MoonPay to enable Bitcoin purchases using major payment methods. MetaMask also enhanced its security measures and introduced direct validator staking for Ethereum users.
These developments indicate a fierce competition among wallet providers to offer the best features and services to attract the next wave of web3 users and drive mass adoption of cryptocurrencies. With Uniswap’s DEX already leading the market with impressive trading volume and total value locked, the addition of a wallet browser extension is set to further solidify its position in the crypto space.
