Crypto CEO Accused of Bribing Deputies and Attempting to Kidnap Ex-Business Partner for Crypto Assets

Crypto CEO Adam Iza, founder of the trading platform Zort, is facing serious allegations of bribery and attempted kidnapping in a shocking turn of events. Federal prosecutors claim that Iza paid three deputies from the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department to obtain sensitive information, which he used to blackmail a target and steal their cryptocurrency.

According to the FBI affidavit filed in federal court, Iza allegedly boasted about paying the deputies $280,000 a month for their services. The information obtained was used to pressure a victim, known as E.Z., into handing over a laptop believed to contain valuable cryptocurrency.

In a disturbing encounter detailed in a report from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, E.Z. described how Iza attempted to kidnap him with the help of two former deputies. The incident involved a gun and a demand to get into a car, prompting E.Z. to flee and contact the police.

Following this incident, E.Z. reportedly faced a campaign of intimidation and harassment from Iza, who allegedly sent threatening messages containing personal details obtained from a police database. The complaint also mentions Iza hiring a private investigator to access sensitive police data, further implicating him in the illegal activities.

In addition to the charges of conspiracy and attempted kidnapping, Iza is also facing accusations of tax evasion for allegedly hiding tens of millions of dollars and failing to report income taxes between 2020 and 2022. Despite these serious allegations, neither Iza’s lawyer nor the LASD has responded to requests for comment.
