Crypto Investment Products See $2 Billion Inflows Amid Expectations of Lower Interest Rates: CoinShares
Crypto investment products saw a massive influx of $2 billion last week, signaling a growing interest in digital assets amidst expectations of lower interest rates. Leading asset managers such as Ark Invest, Bitwise, BlackRock, Fidelity, Grayscale, ProShares, and 21Shares reported a total of $2 billion in net inflows during the first week of June, marking the fifth consecutive week of positive inflows.
According to CoinShares’ latest report, last week’s inflows into crypto funds equaled the entire month of May, bringing the total five-week series to an impressive $4.3 billion. This surge in assets under management surpassed the billion-dollar mark for the first time since March, with trading volume also increasing by 55% to $12.8 billion.
James Butterfill, head of research at CoinShares, noted that the unusual inflows were observed across nearly every provider, while outflows at historical operators slowed down. This shift in sentiment is believed to be a response to weaker-than-expected macroeconomic data in the United States, reinforcing expectations of monetary policy rate cuts.
The U.S. market accounted for a significant portion of last week’s net inflows, with spot Bitcoin setting records for 19 consecutive trading days and over $4 billion in trading volume. BlackRock’s spot Bitcoin ETF alone reported nearly $1 billion in inflows, surpassing 300,000 BTC in assets under management.
Despite the dominance of Bitcoin, Ethereum-based investment products also saw a surge in net inflows, adding $69 million last week. This uptick in interest is likely a reaction to the SEC’s decision to allow spot Ethereum ETFs in the United States.
Overall, the crypto investment landscape is experiencing a period of significant growth and interest, with investors flocking to digital assets in anticipation of market movements and regulatory developments. The continued inflows into crypto funds highlight the increasing mainstream acceptance and adoption of cryptocurrencies as a legitimate investment option.
