Bitpanda, the EU Crypto Exchange, Targets $5 Billion IPO by 2026: Report

Bitpanda Plans €4-5 Billion IPO on Frankfurt Stock Exchange in 2026

Bitpanda Sets Sights on IPO, Eyeing €5 Billion Valuation on Frankfurt Stock Exchange

Vienna, Austria — Bitpanda, one of Europe’s leading cryptocurrency exchanges, is reportedly gearing up for an initial public offering (IPO) in the first half of 2026, with a projected valuation between €4 billion ($4.7 billion) and €5 billion ($5.83 billion). The Vienna-based platform has chosen the Frankfurt Stock Exchange for its listing, steering clear of alternatives like New York and London.

Founded in 2014, Bitpanda has rapidly ascended to prominence, boasting over seven million users and capturing a staggering 59.6% of Austria’s domestic crypto trading market, according to consultancy firm EY. While the exchange has not publicly disclosed its trading volumes, its influence in the European crypto landscape is undeniable.

To facilitate the IPO, Bitpanda has enlisted the expertise of financial heavyweights Goldman Sachs, Citigroup, and Deutsche Bank. Although the company has yet to confirm the reports, insiders suggest that the offering could materialize as early as the first quarter of 2026.

The decision to list in Frankfurt comes after CEO Eric Demuth expressed concerns over liquidity in the London market, which he deemed less favorable compared to other major financial hubs. This sentiment echoes a broader trend, as several European firms, including fintech giant Wise, have opted against London listings in recent years.

A Booming Year for Crypto IPOs

2025 marked a watershed moment for crypto IPOs, with significant debuts from companies like USDC issuer Circle and trading platform eToro. As 2026 unfolds, the momentum appears to be continuing, with Bitpanda’s potential IPO joining a growing list of public offerings in the crypto sector.

Competitors are also in the race, with crypto exchange Kraken having filed confidentially for an IPO in November, eyeing a $20 billion post-funding valuation. Other firms, including FalconX, Grayscale, and Blockchain.com, are reportedly exploring similar paths to public markets.

Just this week, BitGo, a crypto wallet and custody provider, filed for an IPO on the New York Stock Exchange, potentially valuing the firm at nearly $2 billion, with the offering scheduled for January 21.

As the crypto landscape evolves, Bitpanda’s anticipated IPO could signal a new chapter in the industry, reinforcing the growing acceptance and integration of digital assets into mainstream finance. With a strategic choice of listing venue and a robust user base, Bitpanda is poised to make a significant impact on the financial markets in the years to come.
