Ripple Labs Enhances Crypto Custodial Services with Bank-Grade Technology
Ripple Labs, the San Francisco-based blockchain firm, has announced the introduction of new features and integrated compliance functionality to its crypto custodial services, bringing bank-grade custody technology to the forefront. In a statement released on Oct. 10, Ripple revealed that the new features include hardware security module (HSM) options, pre-configured operational and policy settings, as well as advanced anti-money laundering (AML) monitoring to ensure regulatory compliance.
The platform also unveiled a streamlined user interface for easier navigation of its custodial services. Additionally, Ripple’s offering will enable clients to tokenize real-world assets, such as fiat currencies and commodities, on the XRP Ledger (XRPL). Clients will also have access to a decentralized exchange (DEX) with low-fee trading options.
Aaron Slettehaugh, Ripple’s SVP of Product, emphasized the expansion of Ripple Custody’s capabilities, highlighting its support for high-growth fintech and crypto businesses. He noted that Ripple’s custody platform integrates security and compliance measures trusted by global financial institutions.
Ripple plans to roll out additional compliance integrations to select clients by December 2024, with broader availability expected in early 2025. Pre-configured policies will be accessible starting early next year.
The company aims to tap into the rapidly growing custody sector, which is projected to reach $16 trillion by 2030. Ripple Custody will provide fintech companies, including banks, with a secure environment to store digital assets for their clients in compliance with global regulatory standards.
Ripple has made significant strides in its custody business over the past year, following its acquisitions of Metaco and Standard Custody & Trust Company, further solidifying its position in the custody space. The firm reported a 250% increase in customer growth year-over-year, with its services available in major financial markets worldwide.
Notable clients of Ripple’s Custody business include BBVA Switzerland, Societe Generale – FORGE, DBS, RULEMATCH, Archax, and Futureverse. With its latest enhancements, Ripple is poised to continue its growth and innovation in the crypto custodial services market.
