Ripple Partners with IRC to Explore Blockchain Technology for Humanitarian Aid

Ripple, a leading blockchain technology company, has made a groundbreaking commitment to support humanitarian aid efforts in crisis zones. The company has pledged $1 million to explore how its upcoming RLUSD stablecoin and cross-border payment solutions can enhance cash relief and fund transfers in areas affected by disasters and conflicts.

In a recent announcement on Oct. 16, Ripple unveiled a new partnership with the International Rescue Committee (IRC) to revolutionize humanitarian aid delivery through blockchain technology. This initiative underscores Ripple’s dedication to using its global payments network and open-source solutions on the XRP Ledger (XRPL) for positive social impact.

Eric Van Miltenburg, Ripple’s Senior Vice President of Strategic Initiatives, emphasized the significance of the partnership in advancing the company’s mission to leverage blockchain for global good. He expressed excitement about collaborating with the IRC to expand humanitarian efforts and provide essential resources quickly, securely, and efficiently to vulnerable communities in need.

The focal point of the partnership will be on how Ripple’s technologies, including the RLUSD stablecoin, can support cash relief programs and cross-border transfers. RLUSD, which is set to be fully backed by USD deposits and other cash equivalents, will be issued on both the Ethereum and XRP Ledger networks.

With Ripple’s payment solution already operating in over 90 countries and facilitating millions of transactions worth billions of dollars, the partnership with the IRC aims to transform large-scale aid delivery worldwide. By combining Ripple’s payment technology with the IRC’s expertise in humanitarian aid, the collaboration seeks to improve the speed and efficiency of cash relief in over 40 countries where the IRC has provided millions in assistance.
