Paribu Expands Footprint in MENA with $240 Million Acquisition of CoinMENA: A Landmark Fintech Deal for Turkey
Paribu Expands Footprint in MENA with $240 Million Acquisition of CoinMENA
In a landmark move for Turkey’s fintech landscape, Paribu, a leading cryptocurrency exchange, has announced its acquisition of CoinMENA, a prominent local crypto exchange operating in the MENA region, in a deal valued at up to $240 million. This transaction marks one of the largest fintech acquisitions in Turkey to date and highlights the growing trend of cross-border crypto deals.
The acquisition comes at a time when mergers and acquisitions in the cryptocurrency sector are on the rise, with 95 transactions reported in Q3 2025 alone, according to the Architect Partners Q3 2025 Crypto M&A and Financing Report. Paribu’s strategic move aims to capitalize on the momentum of crypto industry consolidation, extending its influence into the MENA region.
Founded in 2020 by Talal Tabbaa and Dina Sam’an, CoinMENA operates under licensed entities in Bahrain and Dubai, offering users the ability to trade over 50 crypto assets in eight local currencies, in addition to the US dollar. The platform has successfully raised nearly $20 million in investments from notable backers, including BECO, Arab Bank Switzerland, Circle, and Bunat Ventures.
With this acquisition, Paribu not only enhances its operational capabilities in the MENA region but also secures licenses that position it as a licensed platform in one of the world’s fastest-growing crypto markets. The company is currently pursuing operating permit applications in Turkey for a crypto asset trading platform and custody service, alongside authorization from the Capital Markets Board (CMB) to establish a broadly authorized brokerage firm.
Paribu’s expansion into the MENA region aligns with its international growth strategy, as the area is recognized as a high-potential market for cryptocurrency adoption. The acquisition allows Paribu to gain direct access to a dynamic ecosystem, further solidifying its presence in traditional capital markets and next-generation finance.
Importantly, the agreement will not alter the operations of either Paribu or CoinMENA. Users of both platforms can expect no changes to their crypto transactions, deposits, or withdrawal processes, ensuring a seamless transition as the two companies integrate.
As the crypto landscape continues to evolve, Paribu’s acquisition of CoinMENA stands as a significant milestone, reflecting the increasing importance of cross-border collaborations in the fintech sector. With this strategic move, Paribu is poised to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of cryptocurrency in the MENA region.
