Australia Welcomes VanEck Bitcoin ETF Amidst Growing Crypto Adoption
Bitcoin’s growing adoption among institutional and retail investors has now extended to Australia, with the debut of the VanEck Bitcoin ETF on the country’s main stock exchange. This development marks a significant milestone in the cryptocurrency market, as the Asia-Pacific region appears poised for a crypto ETF boom.
Following the approval of similar products in the United States and Hong Kong earlier this year, the VanEck Bitcoin ETF commenced trading on the Australia Stock Exchange (ASX) with a seed investment of approximately A$985,000 ($657,000). This launch is just the beginning, as other players like BetaShares Holdings Pty and DigitalX are preparing to list their own crypto ETFs on the ASX.
In addition to the VanEck Bitcoin ETF, crypto ETFs are already available on CBOE Australia, the country’s other stock exchange, with products like Global X 21Shares Bitcoin and Global X 21Shares Ethereum attracting around $90 million in assets. Bloomberg ETF analyst Rebecca Sin predicts that the Asia-Pacific region holds significant potential for digital asset ETFs, with an estimated value exceeding $3 billion in the coming years.
Despite negative ETF flows in the US market on Wednesday, with outflows amounting to $152.4 million, VanEck’s Bitcoin ETF has held steady. While other ETFs like Fidelity and Grayscale’s Bitcoin Trust ETF experienced outflows, VanEck’s Bitcoin ETF saw positive inflows of $23.6 million over five days this month.
As of the current writing, Bitcoin continues to exhibit a consolidation phase, maintaining a trading price of $64,895. Although the cryptocurrency has experienced declines over the past seven and fourteen days, it has achieved impressive gains of 141% year-to-date and boasts a substantial market capitalization of $1.2 billion.
With the launch of the VanEck Bitcoin ETF in Australia and the potential for further growth in the Asia-Pacific region, the cryptocurrency market is poised for continued expansion and adoption among investors.
